Digital Broadcasting Policy of The Gambia

A brief History of Analog to Digital Migration

Technological advancement has resulted in the emerging of new technologies which ultimately led to scarcity of frequency as a commodity.  In a bid to effectively manage the natural frequency spectrum, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) decided to call a meeting in 2006 to discuss management of natural frequency spectrum.

The Gambia along with all member countries agreed in Geneva in 2006 to migrate from analog to Digital Television Broadcasting.

One of the key targets is to have an efficient management of our ICT scarce resources (radio frequency spectrum) with higher returns for the people and countries.
